Myth 1

Milk may temporarily soothe heartburn, but high-fat dairy can trigger or worsen reflux symptoms for some people.

Myth 2

Apple cider vinegar treats heartburn

There is no strong scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness, and its acidity may irritate the esophagus or worsen reflux symptoms.

Myth 3

Heartburn is only caused by greasy food

Other triggers include chocolate, citrus, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and smoking.

Myth 4

Mints prevent heartburn

Peppermint may relax the lower esophageal sphincter and worsen symptoms.

Baking soda is a safe remedy for heartburn
